The trail system next to the Horse Gulch/Telegraph network (and connecting to it) is called the Grandview Ridge Trails and includes several very fun local trails. The trails are designed as swoopy, intermediate style multi-use and multi-direction trails for mountain biking, hiking, trail running.
Crites Connect: 1.5 miles; difficult; Hike/Bike Only
Carbon Junction: 2.1 miles; moderate; all non-motorized
Cowboy: 1.04 miles; moderate; all non-motorized
Sale Barn: 1.84 miles; moderate; all non-motorized
South Rim: 2.28 miles; easy; all non-motorized
Sidewinder: 3.3 miles; moderate; all non-motorized
Big Canyon: 1.63 miles; moderate; all non-motorized
Skull Rock: 1 mile downhill
Grandview Trails can be accessed at Big Canyon Trailhead or Sale Barn. To access the Big Canyon Trailhead, from Durango, take Highway 550/160 to Dominguez Drive (at the intersection to Walmart) and turn left. About 100 yards up, park at the designated area for Big Canyon Trailhead. To get to Sale Barn parking area, from Durango take Main Avenue (US Hwy 550/160) south to Dominguez Drive (across from Wal-Mart) and turn left towards Durango Motor Company. At the stop sign intersection, turn right and head south on frontage road. Just before the frontage roach reaches 550/160, turn left onto the dirt road, which leads to the Sale Barn parking lot. You can also go up and over Telegraph Trail from Horse Gulch into Grandview Trails.
