Based in Durango, Colorado, Trails 2000 is a 501c3 organization that builds and maintains trails; educates trail users and encourages connectivity on road, path and trail.

Trails 2000 and education go hand in hand. Whether it is maps, trail etiquette cards and reminders, or our TrailKids Program, we are committed to educating community members and students about the trails and the land around us. Our trail work gatherings are always informative and volunteers learn about trail care and gain appreciation for all that is involved in sustainable trail design. Most of what Trails 2000 is involved with has an educational component.

The TrailKids program is designed to inspire curiosity, stewardship, and an appreciation for natural lands in area youth through outdoor, hands-on science education and trailwork. For more information, visit the TrailKids page.

Trails and Maps

As part of our education program and to provide trail users with quality information, Trails 2000 assists the trails community with trail conditions, maps and trail etiquette cards. We assist others publishing maps and help them refine their products for accuracy and user readability. We also provide  GIS data and work with both the private and public sector to provide accurate trail maps. For more information:
