Trailwork in Horse Gulch, Oct. 3 and 4

Trails 2000 is pleased to invite volunteers to Trailwork in Horse Gulch on 
Tuesday, October 3, on Sugar Trail, and Wednesday, October 4, on Mike’s Trail. No experience is necessary, and volunteers are invited to come for as much or little time as they can. Trails 2000 crews will be on site with all tools, instruction and safety tool talk, gloves, and water and snacks for the entire crew.

Trails 2000 Trailwork on Horse Gulch Trails

Tuesday, October 3, Sugar Trail

When: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; please come for as much or as little time as you can.
Where/DirectionsMeet at bottom of Sugar Trail, located about 2.5 miles up Horse Gulch Road from the trailhead off 8th Avenue and 3rd Street; from Main Avenue in Durango, take College Drive to 8th Avenue and turn right. Take a left at 3rd Street (by Horse Gulch Health Campus, before the Sonic) and park in the Horse Gulch trailhead parking lot. From the trailhead, follow the gravel road/trail past the Meadow and continue past two gates where you’ll see rock cairns marking the start of the Sugar Trail and the Trails 2000 crew.

Wednesday, October 4, Mike’s Trail

When: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.; please come for as much or as little time as you can.
Where/DirectionsMeet near the top of Mike’s Trail; from Main Avenue in Durango, take College Drive to 8th Avenue and turn right. Take a left at 3rd Street (by Horse Gulch Health Campus, before the Sonic) and park in the Horse Gulch trailhead parking lot. Ride or run up Horse Gulch Road to the Meadow Loop to Stacy’s then onto Mike’s. Crews will be near the top of Mike’s with tools and instruction. Please note: Mike’s is a distance from the trailhead, so please plan accordingly, especially for those planning to run into the worksite.

What to wear to Trailwork: Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes or boots, long pants, shirt (long or short sleeved), sun hat, sunscreen, and bring a water bottle and rain jacket (optional). Trails 2000 will provide all tools, instruction, water and snacks.
