MORE DIFFICULT

Most Difficult:
Take College to 8th, turn right, turn left again on 3rd by Building Specialties and park at trailhead. Ride up the rocky doubletrack, Horse Gulch Road, approximately 1 mile. At the major, signed junction turn right toward the obvious meadow. After riding approximately ½ mile through the meadow you will reach another major, signed trail junction. Proceed across the junction and slightly to your left to stay on the Meadow Loop Trail. Ride this up and down section until you reach the junction with Stacy’s and take a left. Stacy’s Loop is easily navigated by following the various signage along the way. This small loop will bring you back to your first trail junction before the meadow. Take a right on Horse Gulch Road this time and ride up the gentle grade approximately 1/2 mile. Keep an eye on your left for a steep, rocky trail officially called Rocky Road. This is your turn to Raider’s Ridge. Follow this trail steeply up and take your first right on an equally rocky trail. Continue on this for several miles continually bearing right. The trail will go up and down at different times. After completing the final sustained climb to Raider’s Ridge itself, take a left and follow the obvious trail along the ridge heading south. This is a rocky, technical trail. There are numerous unsigned trail options to get you back down off the ridge, so have fun exploring! Once you’ve found a way down, take the doubletrack back down the way you came. Ride/hike length is approximately 10 miles.

More Difficult:
Park at the Horse Gulch Trailhead. Take College to 8th, turn right by Durango Natural Foods. Turn left again on 3rd by Building Specialties. Park and ride up Horse Gulch Road, the rocky doubletrack approximately 1 mile. At the major, signed junction turn right at the Meadow. After riding approximately 1/2 mile through the Meadow you will reach another major, signed trail junction. Proceed across the junction and slightly to your left to stay on the Meadow Loop Trail. Ride this up and down section until you reach the junction with Stacey’s and take a right. At your next junction turn right onto Mike’s Trail and follow it for several miles until you reach and obvious ridge top. The trail starts descending here and soon connects to Cuchillo Trail. Stay right at your first junction and continue follow the signs. At a trail junction along the way take the Meadow cutoff and head back to the Telegraph Trail. Climb Telegraph Trail for several miles and after a short steep ending, you will see a memorial bench. The left turn onto Anasazi Trail is only a few feet away. Descend Anasazi Trail for about a mile and rejoin the Meadow and retrace your steps back to Horse Gulch Road and your start point. Ride/hike length approximately 12 miles.

More Difficult:
Park at the Sale Barn Trailhead which is the parking lot east of Dietz Market on Highway 160. From Durango, take 160 east and turn left at Dominguez Drive, follow frontage road to your right and head up the gravel road to the trailhead. Ride up the Sale Barn trail from the parking area and follow the obvious singletrack; switchbacking up to the mesa. After several miles you will reach an unsigned junction. Take a right here onto Cowboy Trail. Follow the signs on Cowboy Trail for close to 3 miles and take a left onto Sidewinder at a major trail junction (signed). Descend Sidewinder for about 1/2 of a mile before it climbs gently up to a junction with Crites Connector and Carbon Junction Trail. Take a left onto Carbon Junction and descend the rocky trail. At your next junction, take a left onto South Rim Trail and follow it for several miles over rolling terrain. South Rim ends with a steep exit point and will shoot you straight over to Big Canyon via a wide singletrack/narrow road. Take a right here onto Big Canyon Trail and descend this swoopy trail down a beautiful creek drainage. The trail ends at New Country Auto Center and a frontage road. Take the frontage road east (left) back to your beginning trailhead. Ride length approximately 8-10 miles.
