FUNDING
Trails 2000 & The Community
Thanks to all our supporters and volunteers over the years, Trails 2000 has been able to enhance our community and contribute to our quality of life. We are proud of the value we have brought to Durango and Southwest Colorado.
Private Funds
Our group is funded almost entirely by private donations. The majority of our operating money comes from trail enthusiasts like you. People chip in because they love trails and want to help. Our budget comes from two sources, generally, membership and our annual fundraiser.
Please consider supporting this work, either with a few bucks or with your volunteerism, or both. We continue working toward fantastic trail systems only with your help!
MEMBERSHIP
To assist with the trails effort, people become Members of Trails 2000. They join our group, and renew annually, by filling out a Membership Form and mailing it with their check. Some people contribute a modest amount, levels that we describe as 'Just' Dues. Others donate at higher levels known as "Hooked On Trails" Memberships. The main benefit of being a Trails 2000 Member is that you are helping do your part; you're helping keep the trails in good condition, and helping us plan and advocate for sensible trail systems. In addition to being an important part of the effort, Members receive stickers, certificates of membership, and newsletters.
Trails 2000 Membership information and forms appear on this site on our Membership page. We encourage you to join, renew and be involved.
ANNUAL FUNDRAISER
The balance the funding for our nonprofit group comes from our Annual Fundraiser. This function is our Trails 2000 Benefit Dinner and Auction and has been hosted since inception in Durango by Olde Tymer's Cafe. Each January, the restaurant provides a great meal and guests share cocktails and stories before the auction begins. Generous business people donate trips, sporting goods, special parties, and all sorts of fancy items. We hold a live auction and all proceeds go to trails. Each year we make around $40,000 on this super event.
Our sincere appreciation goes out to Olde Tymer's Cafe, all the auction item donors, and everyone who attends and contributes. The list is extensive -- Durango you're great -- you support trails.
