Trails 2000 builds and maintains trails; educates trail users and advocates for total connectivity on road, path and trail. We are a 501c3 based in Durango, Colorado.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: All in town trails are in great shape. High Country trails are open and clear: including: Hermosa Creek; Jones; Dutch; Pinkerton Flagstaff; Goulding Creek; Hotel Draw; Corral Draw; Colorado Trail from Champion Venture to Gudy's and Celebration Lake to Hotel Draw. Haflin Creek is almost clear. Stevens Creek is virtually clear (four trees).

Blazing a trail

Trails 2000 celebrates two decades building paths
It all started 20 years ago with a developer, real estate appraiser, and a gas and oil consultant who shared a common goal in land-use planning: to build and preserve a trail system in Durango.

Thus was born Trails 2000, a nonprofit organization that builds and cares for multiuse trails and paths in Southwest Colorado.

"We knew that growth was starting to occur, and we knew that growth was inevitable," said Bob Allen, the first board president and a real-estate appraiser in Durango. "We felt that recreational trails, planning and creating recreational trail systems and connections should be part of planning for that growth." Read More...
